We lost another tough one last night. We jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Spalding University in the first inning. We lost the lead when Spalding scored four runs in the third inning. We had our fair share of chances to tie the game up but we couldn’t manage to string together some hits.
Currently, we are 0-4 with 2 one run losses. We have been close in every game and now we just have to find a way to get over that hump. We need to find a way to get that first win under our belt. Once we get that first one out of the way the rest of the games will be less pressured.
Today we got rained out so we weren’t able to play. We have three days left and we will try and reschedule the two games for those days so we will be playing six games in the next three days.
Today we played the 12th ranked team in the nation in a double header. Both games were a pitching battle. Game one St. Joes pitched a third team all American and we struggled to have timely hitting. We lost three to zero but it definitely showed us that we can play with the best in the nation.
The next game was even more of a pitchers duel. It took five innings for a team to jump ahead and that was all they needed. We lost one to zero on a tough one.
Both games were pretty tough conditions as we played with 15+ MPH winds coming in from left field.
Tomorrow we play Spalding, KY in a 9 inning game. We have played them the past three years and are 1-2 against them.
We had a tough loss tonight, but we can take a lot of positives. Pitchers made big pitches when they needed to and we had some timely hitting when it was needed.
We got down by four early in the game and fought back to be up by 2 for most of the game. We lost the lead in the ninth and then eventually lost in the tenth inning by a run.
We are back in action tomorrow afternoon for a double header against St. Joes.
We arrived safely last night, however, we had a few setbacks once everyone retrieved their luggage. Ultimately, we got to our condos around 1am and had to scramble to find some food.
Today is the big day though. Today is the day we have been training towards for 6 weeks. Game one. Lets get it.

Final off day before we leave for Florida! We have three more practices until we play Coe College in Winter Haven, FL. In 2011 we beat Coe in game 1 of the central region to advance to the next game. This year Coe is one of the top teams in our region and will already have 9 games played before we open our season with them. It will be a great test to how well we prepared for this season.
3 days left until Florida! HumHawks!
It is getting to that point in the season where everyone is sick of being inside! We have nine days left until we leave for the sunshine state, and we are getting a bit anxious. The worst part is that we will most likely be stuck inside for a few weeks after we get back from Florida! For now, we have to continue to keep getting better as we lead up to game number one. The first game is a huge one for us as we battle one of the best teams in our region. They will be coming to the end of their Florida trip and we will be just starting ours.
9 days until Florida!!!
Yesterday we had probably the best practice we have had all year. We went through 13 innings of inter-squad and had a great balance of good hitting and good pitching. Everything in the practice was intense and fast paced. As we get closer to Florida, we have to continue to improve and not take any steps backward.
12 days until Florida!!
The squad had a solid night of hitting tonight. Hitters got to see live pitching from some of the pitchers plus a solid hour of drill work. The plan for tomorrow is to have another inter-squad of about 8 innings, with defensive work and hitting drills on the side.
The Men’s basketball conference tournament is nearing and Redhawk Nation is ready to get rowdy. The entire baseball team will be grilling out before the game, and there will be at least one fan bus heading to the game. We play the #1 seed and host team so it will be a huge game!
Go Redhawks! and #InvadeNorbs!
We had a rough weekend of practices this weekend. There were a lot of mental mistakes which are easily fixable. Tonight is an off day for us which we be good to get a break from baseball. Tomorrow we have to be ready to get back after it and start progressing.
Only three weeks until Florida!
We had another great night of practice tonight! In my four years here this is the best we have practiced in the first three weeks! It’s great to see the chemistry we have built as a team in prior seasons and in this offseason just unfold right in front of our eyes. Hopefully we can keep up this pace and continue to get better and strive for our goals.
Tomorrow morning will be another day of inter-squad! Should be a great practice!
21 days until Florida!!
Tonight we had the night off because of Valentine’s day…kind of. Some time throughout the day everyone was supposed to go down and throw and hit and do some conditioning. It was nice having a short practice so some of the guys could treat their female friends to a nice evening.
We will get back on the grind tomorrow evening with some inter-squad! Starting pitchers are up to throwing 5-6 innings on the mound while relievers will be throwing anywhere from 1-3. It should be a great weekend of practices!
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
22 days until Florida!!
Just about to get in bed! We have practice at 5 am tomorrow morning so its definitely an early bed time tonight! We will play a few innings of inter-squad tomorrow as well as hitting and fielding drills on the side.
Tomorrow afternoon the entire baseball team is heading to De Pere to tailgate and root on the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams against rival St. Norbert! The men are in a situation to clinch a birth into the conference tournament so this is a HUGE game!
25 days until Florida!
Today marked the end of the second week of practice. We had another good week of practices. Tonight we had a tune up practice. We worked on the basics and had a solid night of baseball. Two weeks in and we are starting to get more crisp on defensive plays. We fine tuned our bunt defense tonight and worked on some hitting drills.
We ended the practice with a short lift and swimming for conditioning. Swimming for conditioning is a good way to end the week because it puts minimal stress on the body and is still a good work out.
We have a day off tomorrow, and then we are back at it at 5 am on tuesday morning!
GO Hawks!!! 26 days until Florida!
